iPhone Screen Types

Which screen should you choose?

Summary

Our recommendation, listed in order (where available for your device).

  1. 1st - Genuine Apple Display
  2. 2nd - Aftermarket OLED
  3. 3rd - Aftermarket LCD

Ultimately, the differences come down to your budget and the standard software notifications displayed by Apple. Read the full breakdown below so you know exactly what to expect with each option.

Genuine Apple Display

These screens are genuine reclaimed Apple parts that still look brand new. In some cases, the touch screen glass has been professionally refurbished. Either way, your screen looks and feels brand new.

Your screen can configure in Repair Assistant - Apple's built-in calibration tool in iOS 18 or later. It will confirm as a genuine 'used' part with no warning messages, leaving just a clean entry in your Parts and Service History.

Note: For the automated Repair Assistant to complete successfully, Apple's software requires the phone's other core components (like the battery or cameras) to be genuine or verified parts as well.

If genuine screens are out of budget, check out our aftermarket options below.

Aftermarket OLED

Not all screens are created equal. We've sourced the best aftermarket soft OLED screens available. They use a flexible soft OLED panel like an original Apple screen, instead of a hard panel, meaning they handle everyday bumps and drops much better without cracking. With vibrant color accuracy, high-sensitivity touch response, and original-level battery efficiency, they offer a near-identical experience to a genuine Apple display.

Unlike the "cheap" low-quality screens found in some shops - which often suffer from lag, freezing, or dull colours - our premium displays are built for performance.

Note on Settings: These screens will not calibrate in iOS Repair Assistant and will show an "Unknown Part" message for 4 days before moving into your settings menu. This is simply Apple's way of encouraging the use of their own parts; it does not mean the screen is defective.

Aftermarket LCD

We've sourced the best aftermarket LCD screens on the market. They offer vibrant colour quality and high-sensitivity touch. Please be aware these screens are slightly thicker and use more battery than their OLED alternatives (where applicable).

Unlike the "budget" screens found in many shops - which often suffer from lag, freezing, or dull colours - our premium displays are built for performance.
