Battery Calibration

Get the best from your battery.

Calibrating a new battery (mostly applicable to laptops, phones, and tablets) helps the device's internal power management system accurately read the battery's true capacity.

Here is the straightforward, full-cycle method to calibrate it:

  • Charge to 100%: Keep it plugged in for 2 hours after it hits 100% to fully saturate the cells.
  • Drain to 0%: Use the device until it runs completely out of power and shuts itself off.
  • Rest: Leave the device dead and unplugged for 2 to 5 hours to establish a true "zero" baseline.
  • Recharge: Plug it back in and charge it uninterrupted all the way back up to 100%.
